SONLINE ("Salons online") is a management system for beauty salons developed by Salon Online LLC (OOO "Salon onlayn"), based in Moscow, with offices in Saint Petersburg and a partner company in Yerevan, Armenia. The service has existed since 2011. It combines an appointment book, a client database (CRM), stock management, payroll calculation, finance and reporting, a bonus programme, SMS reminders and a white-label mobile app for the salon's clients. Its main market is Russia and other Russian-speaking countries.

How SONLINE appears on a website

A salon adds the SONLINE booking form to its website by loading a script from sonline.su, such as js/widget3/widget3.js. The page defines a sonlineWidgetOptions object with the salon's settings, and a button calls showSonlineWidget() to open the booking window. Technology scanners detect SONLINE through the sonline.su script address or these two JavaScript names. The form lets clients choose a service, a specialist and a time slot, see reviews and promotions, and add the visit to their calendar.

Cookies and personal data

SONLINE does not publish a list of cookies set by its widget, so none is listed here. Loading the script sends the visitor's IP address, browser data and the page address to sonline.su. When a client books, the widget collects their name, phone number, the chosen service, specialist and time, and possibly comments; SONLINE then sends SMS reminders. On its own website, SONLINE states that it uses Yandex Metrica, which does not concern the widget itself.

GDPR and consent

The company and its servers are in Russia, which has no EU adequacy decision, and Russian law requires personal data of Russian citizens to be stored in Russia. A salon subject to the GDPR that uses SONLINE therefore transfers client data to a third country and needs Chapter V safeguards, which are difficult to guarantee in practice. Loading the widget on every page sends IP addresses to Russia even when the visitor does not book, which is not strictly necessary.
