Avis Verifies is a French online reviews platform operated by Skeepers that collects, certifies and publishes verified customer reviews using the AFNOR NF Z74 501 standard.
Avis Verifies is a French verified reviews platform now operated under the Skeepers brand. Merchants integrate the service to send post purchase invitations to customers, collect ratings and free text reviews, and display them on product and category pages through widgets. The collection process is certified to the AFNOR NF Z74 501 standard, which requires identifiable reviewers and a transparent moderation workflow.
On the merchant side, Avis Verifies receives order data such as customer email, first name, order reference and product list, transmitted via API or file. On the website, the widget reads or sets first party functional cookies and may set third party measurement cookies under the avis verifies.com domain. The published reviews include first name and the first letter of the family name, in line with the AFNOR standard.
The transmission of contact details to invite the customer to leave a review can rely on legitimate interest, complemented by the soft opt in rule for marketing emails sent to existing customers about similar products. Functional cookies strictly necessary to display widgets do not require consent, but any measurement or audience cookie does, under Article 5(3) ePrivacy. Avis Verifies acts as a data processor for the review collection workflow and as a controller for its certification activities.

Inform customers at the time of order that their email may be used to send a review invitation, provide an easy opt out, and ensure the invitation email itself contains an unsubscribe link. Where the widget loads measurement cookies, require prior consent through your CMP. Document Avis Verifies in your privacy notice and reference its AFNOR certification to reassure customers.
Skeepers hosts Avis Verifies data primarily in France. Group subcontractors and integrated marketing tools can occasionally process data in other countries, in which case Standard Contractual Clauses and a documented impact assessment apply. Review platform data are not transferred to the United States for the core service, which is a distinguishing feature for European retailers.
Sign the Skeepers data processing addendum, include an information notice at order time, gate any measurement cookie behind consent, list the widget cookies in your cookie policy, document retention periods (typically up to 5 years for reviews, shorter for invitations), and provide a clear process for handling rights of access, rectification and erasure requests.
Websites using Avis Verifies must obtain user consent under GDPR regulations.
DPIA considerations
Avis Verifies processes customer contact details and review content for limited purposes. A full DPIA is generally not mandatory unless combined with profiling, but a documented privacy risk assessment is recommended, especially when widgets and tracking cookies are deployed on the merchant site.

The widget sets first party cookies (avis-verifies-session, avis-verifies-uid) used to measure impressions and link a review to its order. The third party domain avis-verifies.com may also set a cached rating cookie. None are strictly necessary.
The widget measurement cookies require prior consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. The review invitation email itself can rely on the soft opt in rule (B2C, related products, easy opt out) where the laws of the customer EU country allow it.
Sending the review request relies on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR legitimate interest of the merchant. Publishing the review uses 6(1)(b) contract performance. Widget measurement cookies use 6(1)(a) consent.
No by default. Skeepers, the parent company, is based in France and operates from French and Dutch data centres. There are no systematic transfers outside the European Economic Area, which keeps Avis Verifies a low risk option for EU merchants.
A standalone review widget deployment is rarely high risk and does not require a DPIA. A DPIA may still be appropriate if Avis Verifies is combined with social scoring, complex profiling or with cross processor data sharing.
Sign the Skeepers DPA, configure the soft opt in invitation and provide a one click opt out, gate the widget script behind your CMP for analytics consent, retain the buyer email only as long as needed and disclose Avis Verifies in your privacy notice.
Yes: Trustpilot (Denmark), Trusted Shops (Germany), Bazaarvoice (US), Yotpo (Israel), Reviews.io (UK) and Custify or Skeepers' own competing modules. EU origin platforms reduce transfer risk; some non EU providers require a TIA.
List the avis-verifies-* cookies under an analytics or functionality category, name Skeepers and Avis Verifies as the joint operator, disclose retention periods and link to the Skeepers privacy policy and DPA.
