Skeepers is a French user generated content suite that collects verified buyer reviews, ratings and influencer videos for European e commerce brands.
Skeepers is a French user generated content platform built around verified buyer reviews, product ratings, consumer videos and influencer marketing. It is widely used by European retailers to collect post purchase reviews, syndicate them to Google Shopping and to social channels, and to display star ratings on product pages. The platform combines a buyer side review collection workflow, an influencer marketplace and a consumer video module called Skeepers Live Shopping.
On the merchant site Skeepers loads first party and third party cookies that identify the visitor, the product page being viewed and the journey leading to a review submission. Typical cookies include a Skeepers visitor identifier, a session cookie, an A/B testing cookie and, when video features are active, a player state cookie. Submitted review content, name, email, IP address and order reference are stored on Skeepers servers as proof of purchase.
Skeepers cookies that collect engagement, A/B testing or video data are non essential and require prior opt in consent under article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and the corresponding national rules. The processing of review and customer data falls under the GDPR. The merchant is the controller for review collection, while Skeepers acts as a processor for the cookies and content technically required to operate the service, and as a controller for fraud prevention and compliance with the French verified reviews framework.

Configure your CMP to block the Skeepers script before consent. After acceptance, load the widget and pass any visitor or order identifier server side rather than via URL parameters. Use the consent state to drive video and Live Shopping features, and never display marketing prompts before consent. Document the legal basis for each Skeepers feature in your records of processing activities.
Skeepers stores European customer data within the EEA, with primary infrastructure in France and Ireland. A small number of sub processors located outside the EEA are used for narrowly defined functions such as transactional email or video transcoding, with Standard Contractual Clauses in place. The privacy notice should list these sub processors and reference the safeguards.
Add Skeepers to your CMP under the marketing or experience category, list the cookies in your cookie policy, sign the Skeepers data processing addendum, configure retention periods for reviews and authors, and ensure that the verified review badge complies with the French Consumer Code and the NF Z74 501 standard if you display it.
Websites using Skeepers must obtain user consent under GDPR regulations.
DPIA considerations
A DPIA is recommended when Skeepers is deployed at scale, when influencer or video features are enabled, when reviews are matched to customer accounts for personalisation, or when a controller relies on Skeepers data for automated decisioning such as scoring or content moderation.

Skeepers loads first party and third party cookies that store a visitor identifier, the current widget session, an A/B testing variant and, when video features are enabled, a player state cookie. Lifetimes range from a session to 13 months.
Yes. The Skeepers script writes non essential cookies and reads visitor interaction data, so prior opt in consent is required under article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR. The script must remain blocked until the visitor accepts the relevant CMP category.
Consent for the cookies, the engagement tracking, the influencer features and the video module. Legitimate interest can be invoked for fraud detection on submitted reviews and for the verification trail required by the French verified reviews framework.
By default no. European customer data is hosted in France and Ireland. A few sub processors located outside the EEA are used for narrow tasks such as transactional email and video transcoding, governed by Standard Contractual Clauses.
A DPIA is recommended for large catalogues, when influencer or live video features are deployed, and whenever Skeepers data feeds personalisation, scoring or content moderation that produces decisions affecting customers.
Block the Skeepers script in your CMP, sign the data processing addendum, configure cookie purposes and retention, host the verified review badge in line with NF Z74 501 if displayed, and document the lawful basis for each module.
Comparable European user generated content and reviews platforms include Trustpilot, Bazaarvoice, Yotpo, Avis Vérifiés (now Skeepers Avis Vérifiés), Reviews.io, eKomi and Trusted Shops.
List each Skeepers cookie with name, type, lifetime and purpose, indicate that Skeepers acts as processor for these cookies, name the EEA storage location and disclose any sub processor outside the EEA together with the safeguards in place.
