ClickDimensions is a marketing automation, email and analytics suite built natively on Microsoft Dynamics 365. It captures website visits, form submissions, email opens and clicks and pushes them as activities into the Dynamics 365 lead and contact records. Marketing teams use ClickDimensions to score leads, run drip campaigns and align sales and marketing on a single CRM.
ClickDimensions sets first party cookies (typically named cuvid and cusid) holding a pseudonymous visitor id and session id. The tracking script captures pageviews, click events, form submits, file downloads, IP address, user agent and referrer. Email opens are tracked via 1x1 pixels and links are wrapped to log clicks. Once a form is submitted, all prior interactions are stitched to the named lead.
ClickDimensions performs marketing analytics, lead enrichment and email tracking. It is not strictly necessary, so article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive requires consent before any cookie is set. The behavioural stitching with the CRM creates identifiable profiles, which raises the privacy stakes for European visitors.

The legal basis for the tracking pixel and email open/click tracking is article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Once the prospect has identified themselves and the CRM holds them as a lead, the legal basis for the CRM processing may shift to article 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre contract) or article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in commercial follow up).
By default ClickDimensions stores marketing data on Azure US data centres. EU residency requires a specific contract clause and the use of an EU based Dynamics 365 tenant. International transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures; check the current sub processor list with ClickDimensions before deployment.
Sign the ClickDimensions DPA, request EU data residency, gate the tracking script behind your CMP, enable IP anonymisation, suppress link wrapping for non consenting visitors, configure short retention on web tracking, document the integration with Dynamics 365 in the record of processing and review the configuration regularly.
Websites using ClickDimensions must obtain user consent under GDPR regulations.
DPIA considerations
A DPIA is recommended because ClickDimensions tracks individual leads across website, email and CRM, which is systematic behavioural monitoring of identified or identifiable users. It becomes mandatory when combined with scoring or automated decision making.

ClickDimensions sets first party cookies cuvid (long term visitor id) and cusid (short term session id) on the operator domain. Additional cookies may be set by the tag (cuvon for visit start, cd_lead for the matched lead id). All are listed in the ClickDimensions documentation and must appear in the cookie policy.
Yes. ClickDimensions writes pseudonymous identifiers, captures behavioural data and powers marketing automation. Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and article 6(1)(a) GDPR require prior consent. The tracking script and email open pixels must remain blocked until the CMP signals positive marketing consent.
The pixel and email tracking rely on consent (article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Once a lead is identified and managed inside Dynamics 365, the CRM processing can rely on article 6(1)(b) (pre contract) or article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in commercial follow up), with the right to object and to delete.

Sign the ClickDimensions DPA, request EU residency, integrate the script through your CMP, anonymise IP, suppress link wrapping for non consenting visitors, limit web tracking retention, document the integration in the record of processing and grant data subject rights inside Dynamics 365.
Other marketing automation platforms for Microsoft Dynamics include Dynamics 365 Customer Insights Journeys, Marketo Engage, HubSpot, Sales Manago and Brevo. EU based or self hosted alternatives may offer better data residency than ClickDimensions in its default US configuration.
List cuvid, cusid and any additional ClickDimensions cookies with their name, purpose and duration, mention that they are dropped only after marketing consent, name ClickDimensions and Microsoft Dynamics 365 as joint marketing processors, and link to the ClickDimensions privacy notice and your CMP preference centre.
