French AI powered ecommerce optimization platform that tracks visitor behavior, runs A/B tests and delivers personalized product recommendations and popups on European infrastructure.
Webyn is a French software vendor that helps online retailers improve their conversion rate through AI driven personalization. The platform observes how visitors interact with product listings, search results, category pages and checkout, then activates recommendations, popups and dynamic content blocks to guide each visitor toward a purchase. Webyn also supports server side A/B testing so that merchandising and UX teams can validate hypotheses without slowing down the storefront.
Webyn collects pseudonymous visitor identifiers, page views, clicks, scroll depth, product impressions, add to cart and purchase events, referrer information, device and browser characteristics, and approximate location derived from the IP address. When the retailer pushes additional data through the JavaScript tag or server side API, Webyn can also process order amounts, product categories or customer segments. Personal identifiers such as email addresses are not collected by default.
Webyn is headquartered in France and stores customer data on European cloud infrastructure. This is a meaningful advantage compared with US based optimization tools because there is no Standard Contractual Clauses dependency and no exposure to the US Cloud Act for the analytics pipeline. EU residency does not, however, remove the obligation to obtain consent for analytics and behavioral tracking under the ePrivacy Directive and CNIL guidance.

Because Webyn relies on cookies and similar identifiers for analytics, A/B testing and personalization, the legal basis is user consent collected through a compliant Consent Management Platform. Tags must remain blocked until the visitor accepts the analytics and personalization categories. Webyn integrates with the major CMPs through the IAB TCF signal and can also be triggered through a custom consent gate.
The AI models build behavioral profiles to predict which products, banners or popups will maximize conversion for a given visitor. Even when identifiers are pseudonymous, profiling triggers transparency obligations under Article 13 of the GDPR. The privacy notice should describe the logic, the categories of data used and the right to object. Webyn does not perform decisions with legal or significant effects on individuals.
Sign a Data Processing Agreement with Webyn, configure IP truncation when available, set retention to the shortest period compatible with your optimization goals (12 months is a common ceiling), block the tag until consent is granted, and document the deployment in your record of processing activities.
Websites using Webyn must obtain user consent under GDPR regulations.
DPIA considerations
Behavioral analytics combined with AI personalization processes pseudonymous visitor identifiers, navigation events, product interactions and purchase signals. Although Webyn hosts data in the European Union and acts as a processor on behalf of the retailer, the combination of cross session tracking, profiling for recommendations and potential automated decisioning (popups, dynamic content) qualifies the processing as medium risk under the GDPR. A DPIA is recommended when Webyn is deployed at scale, when used together with CRM or authenticated user identifiers, or when personalization influences pricing or product visibility. Document the categories of data, retention periods, the logic of the AI models, and ensure a clear opt out path via the consent banner.

Webyn is a French ecommerce optimization platform. It tracks visitor behavior, runs A/B tests and delivers personalized recommendations and popups powered by AI to lift conversion on retail websites.
Yes. Webyn relies on cookies and behavioral analytics, which fall under the ePrivacy Directive. Tags must remain blocked until the visitor explicitly accepts the analytics and personalization consent categories.
Data is hosted within the European Union, on French and EU cloud infrastructure. There are no transfers outside the EU under the default configuration, which is an advantage compared with US based optimization tools.
By default Webyn collects pseudonymous identifiers, navigation events and device signals. It does not capture direct identifiers such as email addresses unless the retailer explicitly pushes them through the API or tag.
A DPIA is recommended whenever Webyn is deployed at scale, combined with authenticated user identifiers, or used to drive decisions that influence pricing or product visibility. Document the profiling logic and the retention periods.
Default retention is configurable. The common ceiling for analytics cookies in the EU is 13 months, and the underlying personal data should not be kept for longer than 25 months in line with CNIL guidance.
Yes. The platform builds behavioral profiles to predict which content will maximize conversion. This profiling triggers transparency duties under Article 13 GDPR but does not produce decisions with legal or significant effects on visitors.
Visitors can refuse or withdraw consent at any time through the consent banner or the preference center. When consent is withdrawn the Webyn tag stops firing and existing cookies should be cleared.
