Klangoo is a US-based AI content intelligence platform that analyses publisher articles to extract entities, topics and concepts, then powers semantic search, related content recommendations and audience profiling. European publishers and media groups use it to improve engagement on news and editorial sites. From a GDPR perspective, the personalisation cookies, behavioural profiling and US transfer require consent and a DPIA, particularly when the publisher qualifies as a VLOP under the EU Digital Services Act.
Klangoo provides an AI content intelligence platform with semantic analysis, entity recognition, topic clustering and personalised recommendation. Publishers feed their article catalogue via API; Klangoo''s engine then enriches each article and powers a recommendation widget on the storefront.
Klangoo sets klangoo_user (visitor ID), klangoo_session, and a personalisation cookie. It collects IP, User-Agent, article reads, recommendation clicks and dwell time. It builds an interest profile per visitor for recommendation.
Personalisation cookies require prior consent under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy. The behavioural profile may approach special category data when users repeatedly engage with health, political or religious content. Under the EU AI Act, AI-driven recommender systems on VLOP-level publishers face additional transparency obligations. Under the DSA, all VLOP publishers must offer at least one non-profiling-based recommender option.

DPIA considerations
Klangoo processes article content (the publisher's data, but may contain personal data of mentioned persons), visitor browsing patterns, recommendation click-through behaviour, and audience segment derivations. Key DPIA considerations: (1) AI-driven recommendation may fall under the EU Digital Services Act recommender system transparency rules for VLOPs; (2) audience segments derived from content interaction may approach special category data when users repeatedly engage with health, political or religious content; (3) US transfer triggers Chapter V; (4) joint controllership with Klangoo for behavioural profiling. A focused DPIA covering AI-driven personalisation is recommended.
