## **What is BSmart?**

BSmart is an e-commerce platform developed by Microline, a software company located in the Matam technology park in Haifa, Israel. It is used to build online stores for retail (B2C) and wholesale (B2B), with integrations to Israeli and international ERP systems such as Priority, SAP, Hashavshevet and COMAX, as well as payment, mailing, CRM and shipping services. Microline offers two versions: Bsmart Express, a standalone store that can go live quickly, and Bsmart Ecommerce, for businesses that synchronise stock, prices and orders with their ERP. Its clients include Israeli retail chains such as April, Cafe Joe and Kley Zemer. It is unrelated to digital textbook publishers with a similar name.

## **How BSmart appears on a website**

BSmart is a hosted platform built on ASP.NET. Store pages are generated on Microline's servers and are typically delivered through Cloudflare. Detection tools recognise BSmart through the bsmartstate cookie and through JavaScript functions present on the page, such as BSmartConfirmWindow, bsGetBSmartStock and bsmartPriceList, which handle stock, price lists and confirmation dialogs.

## **Cookies and personal data**

On a BSmart store we observed four first-party cookies set by the server on the first visit:

- bsmartstate and bsmartstate2, HttpOnly state cookies valid for one day;
- ASP.NET\_SessionId, the server session cookie, deleted when the browser closes;
- bsselectlanguage, which stores the chosen language for one year.

When a visitor creates an account or places an order, the platform processes their name, contact details, delivery address and order history on behalf of the merchant.

## **GDPR and consent**

The session and state cookies are strictly necessary to run the shop and can be set without consent; the language cookie stores a choice made by the visitor and is generally treated the same way. Consent is still required for any analytics or advertising tags the merchant adds on top of BSmart. Most BSmart stores target Israeli customers; if they sell to people in the EU, the GDPR applies. Israel benefits from an EU adequacy decision, so data hosted there can receive EU personal data without additional safeguards.
