# Install FlowConsent on Wix

On Wix, paste the FlowConsent snippet in Settings → Custom Code, in the Head on all pages, then turn off the Wix cookie banner and marketing integrations.

On Wix, the FlowConsent snippet goes in **Settings → Custom Code → + Add Custom Code**, on **All pages**, placed in the **Head**. Installation takes three steps, but Wix requires a Premium plan with a connected domain before it accepts custom code. The main pitfall: the native Wix cookie banner and Wix **Marketing Integrations** (Google Tag, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager) handle consent on their own, so you need to remove them and let FlowConsent be the only one in charge.

## Before you start

- An account on [app.flowconsent.com](https://app.flowconsent.com) (free Free plan, no credit card, 25,000 sessions per month) and a banner that is created and deployed. On the Free plan, deployment runs through your own Cloudflare account ([guide](/en/doc/cloudflare-deployment)); on Pro and Enterprise it is one click.
- A Wix site that is **published** and has a **connected domain**: that is the condition Wix lists for adding custom code, and connecting a domain requires a Premium plan.
- Owner or admin access to the site, so you can open its settings.

## Step 1: Copy the snippet

In FlowConsent, open **Builder → Deployment → Integration**, **HTML / No-code** tab. The snippet has two parts, and their order matters:

```html title="FlowConsent snippet (paste as is)"
<script>
// FlowConsent Loader - place BEFORE any other script in the <head>
window.dataLayer=window.dataLayer||[];
function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);}
gtag('consent','default',{
  'ad_storage':'denied',
  'analytics_storage':'denied',
  'ad_user_data':'denied',
  'ad_personalization':'denied',
  'wait_for_update':500
});
gtag('set','url_passthrough',true);
gtag('set','ads_data_redaction',true);
</script>
<!-- FlowConsent CMP -->
<script src="https://YOUR-LICENSE-CODE.consent.flowconsent.com/cookie-manager.js?code=YOUR_LICENSE_CODE"></script>
```

The first block sets the Consent Mode v2 defaults (everything `denied`), the second loads the banner. Never split the two blocks.

## Step 2: Add it in Settings → Custom Code

In your Wix site's dashboard:

1. Go to **Settings**, then click **Custom Code** in the **Development & integrations** section.
2. Click **+ Add Custom Code** at the top right.
3. Paste the snippet into the text box and give it a recognizable name, such as `FlowConsent`.
4. Under **Add Code to Pages**, select **All pages**, then choose to load the code **on each page your visitor opens** (not only once per visit).
5. Under **Place Code in**, select **Head**.
6. Click **Apply**.

With **All pages**, Wix also adds the code to pages you create later. If other snippets already sit in the Head, make sure no tracking script loads before FlowConsent.

> [!NOTE]
> Wix ties custom code snippets to a specific domain. If you assign a different primary domain to the site, Wix deletes those snippets, and you will need to paste the FlowConsent snippet again.

## Step 3: Turn off the Wix banner and native marketing integrations

> [!WARNING]
> Two consent banners on the same site means two conflicting choices for the visitor and consent you cannot prove. In your Wix dashboard, open **Cookie Consent Banner** and turn off the **Show banner** toggle of the native Wix banner.

Wix **Marketing Integrations** (Google Tag for Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel & CAPI, TikTok Pixel) are injected by Wix and follow the consent collected by the Wix banner, not by FlowConsent. Once the Wix banner is off, they can fire without any consent at all. Remove them from **Marketing Integrations**, then declare the matching services in **Builder → Services**: the FlowConsent banner will only load them after the visitor accepts.

Note that the Wix help center states that Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and the Meta and TikTok pixels do not work when pasted directly as custom code. After the switch, accept the banner on your live site and check that data still reaches your tools.

## Verify the installation

1. Open your published site in a **private window**: the banner should appear.
2. In the **Network** tab of the developer tools, no request to Google, Meta or TikTok should leave before you click "Accept".
3. Run the **installation assistant** (**Builder → Integration**): it checks the live page (loader present with your license code, Consent Mode stub present, stub placed BEFORE every Google tag). See [the setup wizard](/en/doc/setup-wizard).
4. Finish with a **refusal scan** from the **Compliance** tab: a real browser refuses consent and confirms that nothing fires. See [compliance verification](/en/doc/compliance-verification).

> [!TIP]
> If the banner does not reapply the visitor's choice after a page change without a full reload, turn on **SPA Mode** in the banner settings ([guide](/en/doc/nextjs-integration)).

## Do it from your AI agent (MCP)

FlowConsent has an official MCP server, `https://mcp.flowconsent.com`, that works from Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client. You connect with OAuth 2.0 using your FlowConsent account, no API key needed. Your agent can fetch the snippet and placement instructions (`get_banner_snippet` and `get_setup_instructions` tools), verify the installation with a real scan (`verify_consent_compliance`) and set up recurring monitoring (`monitor_compliance`).

Example request:

> Give me my banner snippet for my Wix site and check that it is installed correctly on https://mysite.com

The agent does not edit your Wix site for you: it gives you the snippet, the instructions and the verification. See [the MCP server](/en/doc/mcp-server) and [the MCP page](/en/mcp).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I install FlowConsent on a free Wix site?

No. Wix requires a published site with a connected domain before you can add custom code, and connecting a domain requires a Premium plan. On a free `wixsite.com` address, the option is not available.

### Should I load FlowConsent through Google Tag Manager?

No. FlowConsent does not load through GTM, because a banner loaded from GTM arrives too late for prior blocking. The snippet goes in the Head, above any GTM container, and GTM tags then follow the Consent Mode v2 signals. See [Google Consent Mode](/en/doc/google-consent-mode).

### Why doesn't the banner show up in the Wix Editor?

Custom code only runs on the published site, on your connected domain. Always test on the live address, ideally in a private window.

### My snippet disappeared from Settings. What happened?

Most often, the site's primary domain changed: Wix then deletes custom code snippets tied to the old domain. Paste the snippet again by following step 2.
